The Distinguished Lecture Series at the Fields Institute in Toronto will take place on February 21, 22 and 23, 2017 and will feature talks by Prof. Umberto Zannier. Umberto Zannier is currently professor of Geometry at the Scuola Normale Superiore in Pisa. He graduated at the University of Pisa in 1980.  He is a member of Accademia dei Lincei and of Academia Europaea, and is editor of several mathematical journals. His main research interests are in Number Theory and related topics, with special emphasis in Diophantine Geometry and  applications of the theory of heights.
