This afternoon the final measurement of the muon's magnetic moment at Fermilab in the United States, representing one of the most precise tests of the present heory of fundamental interactions.
PISA, 3 June 2025. The Muon g-2 experiment at Fermilab will release its final measurement of the magnetic moment of the muon on June 3rd, 2025, with a scientific seminar at 10:00 AM Central US Time (17:00 Central European Time), also broadcasted in the Fermilab youtube channel.
This measurement is one of the most precise tests of the present theory of the fundamental interactions.
Previous partial results have been released in 2021 and 2023. The measurement has been performed with a blind analysis technique to avoid even unintentional biases towards past measurements and theory predictions, and has been recently assembled and "unblinded" to the Muon collaboration by Alberto Lusiani (Scuola Normale Superiore assistant professor, Pisa principal investigator and future Italian national coordinator of the Muon g-2 collaboration in the second half of 2025).
The seminar can be remotely attended also in room 250 of the INFN Pisa building (Edificio C – Polo Fibonacci, Largo B. Pontecorvo 3) starting at 17:00 of June 3rd.
