Dear all,                               Pisa, 2 March

February 29, ENAC published its own press release on the issue of refunding airline tickets. The press release is available at https://moduliweb.enac.gov.it/Applicazioni/comunicati/comunicato.asp?selpa1=2613&NumCom=12.

In any case, please pay attention to this paragraph:

"Passengers who have an air ticket for a flight that has been cancelled, passengers who, despite not having had their flight cancelled, are still subject to the restrictions of third countries imposed on people who come from or who have been to Italy in the last 14 days and passengers who by order of the Authorities are subject to measures to contain the epidemic of Covid19 and who therefore cannot use their air ticket

• are entitled to be reimbursed by the airline company;

• do not however have the right to be compensated for the following: pursuant to art. 5 of Reg. No. 261 of 2004 which regulates cancellation, denied boarding and prolonged delay as the flight cancellation does not depend on the airline company".

Regarding rail tickets, we remind you that Trenitalia has decided the following:

(https://www.trenitalia.com/it/informazioni/rimborso-per-rinuncia-al-viaggio-febbraio-2020.html)

"Customers who purchased a ticket for  Frecce, Freccialink, Intercity, Intercity Notte, Eurocity, Euronight and Regionale on or before February 23, 2020,  will be fully refunded by Trenitalia for any trip regardless of the fare purchased, in case of cancellation due to Coronavirus. "

A similar decision had been taken by Italo (https://italoinviaggio.italotreno.it/it/italo-informa/misure-iniziative-coronavirus)

We await any updates from Trenitalia and Italo for tickets purchased after February 23.
